Dear Art Lovers, Students and Patrons, 

Due to the downturn of the economy and inability to obtain adequate funding, a decision was reached that we must close our doors this month as of May 1st 2008. The Fayette Art Center entity will remain and will continue to carry out its mission of bringing people together through art, but in hibernation mode.

Please continue to check our website at www.Fayetteartcenter.com  as to which classes are continuing and where they will be held. Please note Summer Art Camp will not be available.   There will be youth art classes during the first two weeks of June on Mondays 10:00-2:30 Pm. There will also be Monday classes throughout July. $10.00/hr plus $5.00 for materials. Students can attend half day (morning)  or the entire time.  There are several adult classes continuing including photography, sculpture, pottery and painting.  Individual art classes are available on Wednesdays $15.00 an hour (2 hour classes).

Basically the reason for our closing the center is that we need sponsorship totaling $54,000.00 a year to operate educational art curriculums properly.  We also need a donated site: (approx. 2,000 sq.ft) i.e. empty commercial space, empty industrial space, old church, barn with plumbing etc. Art Centers in surrounding counties are either paid for with SPLOST funding, underwritten by their County Government, built and operated by their City government or built and operated with Board of Education funds, or any combination of these. If you have any information on a potential site for us,  please contact us at Fayetteartcenter@bellsouth.net.
